Types of Real Estate Careers
People have always had an interest in real estate. In the areas of law, accounting, and banking there are specific codes for real estate. When it comes to real estate careers and real esate career jobs the positions are just as specific.
The types of real estate careers, commercial real estate careers, and real estate careers jobs are to be found in three areas of the real estate industry: sales, research, and closing. Any real estate professional will be found in one of these three areas
As with any business, real estate is sales driven. In this area, the career positions would be as either a)broker, b)agent or c)associate. The postitions of broker and agent are state licensed positions which require the candidates to pass a written exam before receiving their license. There are schools that will prepare the candidates for this exam. The associate position is one wherein the person is in the process of preparing for the state exam but is actively training with a licensed broker’s office to become an agent
When real estate is to be sold, a realtor (broker) is contacted to assist in the process. Normally, one of the agents in the office will be assigned that property to show and sell to potential buyers. Associates in that office will also assist the agent towards the ultimate sale
Careers found in the area of real estate research will be found within a title insurance company. The examination and insuring of real estate title is founded upon principles derived from real estate law. Various positions such as, title examiner, title officer, title claims officer, title underwriter and title sales representative are all viable positions within the real estate industry. Training is done within the respective title insurance companies for these positions
A real estate career position in the area of closings will depend on what the closing practices are for that particular state. Some states have escrows to handle the real estate closings, while others will have attorneys do the closings. For those states with escrows, the positions of escrow officer and escrow assistant are prevalent. Training once more is done by the escrow company and ultimate certification is done by the state. Of course, licensed attorneys would be the persons handling closing transactions for those states with those closing customs
