Employment Applications
Application for Employment
Unless you are searching for your first job, chances are employment applications are nothing new to you. Never-the-less, the complexity of applications can vary, as does the scrutiny paid the application by a potential employer.
For some employers, an employment application form serves not only as a hiring tool, but as a human resources information sheet after hire. It will be kept on file and referred to for contact numbers and other pertinent information.
An employment application is a legal document, and by filling it out and signing it you are saying that your information is complete and true. Falsifying such a document can be considered fraud, so it’s wise to stick with the truth while going through the employment process.
When sorting through completed employment job applications, an employer is usually looking for neatness, accuracy, and employment history. Neatness and accuracy tell the employer a great deal about how you will do your job.
If you are filling the application out on paper, as opposed to an online application for employment, you should use a pen with blue or black ink. Keep your writing neat and legible. If you mess up, start over on a new application form.
Your employment history is important to your potential employer because it lets him or her know a variety of things about you. For some positions you are required to have certain experience, and the application will indicate if you do or don’t. Aside from that, most employers are looking for people who can handle a variety of tasks, and who have staying potential.
Sometimes you will find a job employment application online. These come in a variety of formats. Some you simply print off and fill out by hand, others you fill out on the computer and then print off to submit, and yet others are completed and submitted online. You are more likely to run across these type of applications when you are using job seekers’ search websites.
When you are looking for a new job, start with some of the most popular job sites, local newspaper classifieds, and college job boards for the best opportunities.
