Key Employment Laws

Employment Rules

The laws that have been written to ensure the safety of employees in the workplace whose standards are both established and enforced by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (0SHA). The Occupational Safety and Health Act was enacted to allow the federal government to establish, monitor, and enforce safety measures required to protect employees from hazardous conditions in the work place.

There are employment law lawyers who have studied these laws and regulations in order to help those who have been treated badly in the workplace. An employment attorney chooses one area of labor employment law and will concentrate their studies in that area to sharpen their expertise in order to be able to offer their client the best quality representation they can, to achieve for them the greatest outcome in their case. It is sad to even think that employees would be treated badly enough by their employer in this country to even need to find an employment law lawyer. There are companies out there that will take advantage of employees in any way they can in order to maximize profits. It is these companies that need to be held accountable and must be required to abide by the employment rules that exist between them and their employees.

It is important to understand and be aware that employment law must be followed by both permanent employers and temporary employment agencies. There are local, state, and federal employment resources for employers and employees to both use so they can be made aware of the laws and know the penalties of not following employment rules in the workplace. Know your rights as an employee and to ensure your employer is following the employment laws for their industry make sure they offer their employees an employee manual which outlines everyone’s part in that business. Make sure that OSHA posters are in plain sight in break rooms so employees know their rights as far as working in a hazard free environment and the options available to them if they ever become injured as a result of their work.

Respect and fair treatment between employer and employee is an unspoken employment contract that all are expected to follow. Without this unwritten contract the workplace would be nothing but turmoil.
